ALAMO CITY LX TODAY

By Levi aka HKLEVI,

ACLX President

The Alamo City LX club was formed in June of 2007 when Jason (MYSRT8U) and I decided to create a club for the greater San Antonio area where LX owners could meet to discuss and enjoy our cars. Its been a long and sometimes slow road to get where the club is at today, but every step along the way has been a rewarding experience leading to the great club we have today.

With this newsletter, we start a new chapter in the club. One that I hope will help to draw the membership closer together allowing those not able to participate as often as they would like the opportunity to stay in tune with the clubs happenings.

In this and in subsequent letters, we will attempt to capture the previous events, announce upcoming functions, feature member’s cars, and announce our supporting vendors.

I hope with this inaugural letter, to regain contact with members who joined the club in its early days and may have drifted away due to the slow growth at the time.

MAY, A MONTH IN REVIEW

May was a very busy month for ACLX. We started with the monthly meet and greet in Castroville on the 2nd. If youve never been, the 2nd Friday of each month is a great time to check it out.

Next was the San Antonio Military Appreciation Car Show on the 16th followed by the free show sponsored by Marcos brother and his Goodyear shop on the 30th. This was a great event with a band, prizes and food, all for FREE! We even managed to have a Chrysler 300 take 3rd Place in the FORD category.

Then on the 25th was the Audie L. Murphy Veterans Hospital Open Car Show. We took some trophies, had lots of laughs and some of us managed to get some extra sun all while honoring our proud veterans and providing some fun and distractions for those residing in the hospital.

All this while making Saturday night a ritual by hanging out at the Texaco where we continued to meet new members and enjoy all the sights and sounds of spring. We initiated a change to our club logo as seen in the header of this letter and it will be added to our club cards to hand out and to shirts in development.

We also had several members add new mods to their car that proved tobe eye catchers. Mark added a new rear graphic to his bee proving he hasthe nicest rear end in the club. Israel added new halos to his already hotwhip. Jeff put some new shoes and wheels on his ride really setting itoff. The list could go on and on so to save some space, head out to thenext meet and greet and see things first hand or if you cant make it out,you can see lots of pictures on the web site and forum.

TIPS FOR YOUR RIDE

by Patrick aka Haukola

OK... we all know life is cooler if you have one of these, right?

But how many of ya'll have ever stopped to think about what preventive maintenance you should do on your sunroof?

Or if there is even anything you should do to keep that coolness working right. Tag along as I show you what should have been done to my 2006 Charger R/T from the day it was bought.

You see this dull tan/grey strip of metal around the actual glass?

That's actually painted with a semigloss exterior paint from the factory.

What should we do to protect all painted Metals? We should wax it, that's right?

Do you think the previous owner ever waxed

this one before I got it? I don't.

If you haven't looked at yours lately, you probably haven't waxed it either.

One of the biggest problem areas on all cars is the sunroof. They are prone to leaking and rust... simple maintenance a couple of times each year can hold that at bay almost indefinitely. A couple of points...

1.)  All of the painted metal which matches your car's color should be cleaned and waxed a couple of times each year.

2.) Any foreign debri, dirt or other contaminants should be wiped out as soon as possible.

3.) The aluminum track that the sunroof slides in should be cleaned out and re-lubed with a silicon lubricant about once a year, to get any junk that decided to settle there out and keep it happily retracting.

Those steps will keep the sunroof on your ride looking good and working right for the life of your car. Hey! You paid to look that cool... you might as well take care of it, right?

FEATURED CARS

By Levi

To start off the first installment of Featured Cars, I chose a couple of members for their unique rides that depicts the pride each owner has and for the contributions they make to the club.

First up is Mark's 2008 B5 Blue Super Bee. Take note of the custom rear black out he installed himself.

(Click on images to see a larger image.)

Next is Marcos’ 2007 Inferno Red R/T. Here again we have a custom design and install courtesy of Marcos himself (with a few pointers from Mark on the install).

Now I know what youre thinking, how do I get MY sweet ride profiled here?

To start with, you have to be registered on the ACLX forum and you have to post up pictures of your car. Posing and highlighting details of your vehicle will go a long way to getting noticed and just may land you on the pages next time. So shine that whip up, get the camera out and find

the spot” to show off what youve got!

IF YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS OR COMMENTS, PLEASE SEND THEM TO ACLXC@YAHOO.COM
